LONG DRAW SPIN-ALONG
We’ll be using an exclusive colorway and our limited edition Cherry Ladybug Spinning Wheel in our upcoming Long Draw Spin-along, March 1-15!
Long draw. Onlookers gasp when they see it. Spinners love it for making lofty, low-twist yarns. If you’re intimidated by it, join us for a Spin-along on Instagram Live from March 1 to 15. Each week, look for a new video and Stephanie’s tips—they’ll have you drawing like a master.

What We’re Spinning
Lisa Souza Dyeworks designed this colorway exclusively for Schacht Spindle Company.
You’ve probably never imagined rolling around on a glacier (unless you’re a polar bear—in which case, congrats for learning how to spin and to read!). But when you get your hands on this luscious braid of 50/50 merino and silk, that’s exactly what you’ll want to do. Expertly dyed by Lisa Souza, these moody blues will form the softest, warmest ice you’ll ever find. We named it for our beloved Colorado glacier, St. Mary’s.
- 50% bombyx silk, 50% fine merino
- 4 oz braid
- Hand-dyed by Lisa Souza Dyeworks
We’ve taken the classic Ladybug Spinning Wheel and transformed it into a cherry delight! Gorgeous cherry wood is complemented by a sleek black drive wheel.
Like the maple Ladybug, the Cherry Ladybug has characteristic solid Schacht construction and its unique design is both functional and charming. Each Ladybug wheel is unique—somewhere on your wheel is your very own ladybug pal. The Ladybug can be used in Scotch tension, Irish tension, and double drive modes. Designed-in carrying handles in the legs and light weight make the Ladybug convenient to pick up and transport. Included with each wheel are a poly drive band, threading hook, three travel bobbins, medium and fast whorls, and double drive band. Each wheel comes with one of our signature ladybug enamel pins.
The deadline for our equipment grant is March 1st. If you or someone you know would like to apply, it’s time to start your application!
